This weekend in Dubai will see a mass exodus of people escaping from the searing summer heat to cooler climes around the world. Not only do the kids break up from school but it’s also Eid Al Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan so a double whammy. Whilst some will just be opting for a short break to take account of the public holiday, many will be leaving for a good month or more to get some respite from the soaring temperatures.
On our recent trip back to the UK we treated ourselves to a mini break in the Cotswolds. I hadn’t been to this gorgeous part of England for many years and I wanted The Scottish Husband to see some of the more beautiful areas of the country his wife is from. Despite him having lived in London for several years prior to moving to Dubai he hasn’t seen much of the middle of the country.
London hotels always distinctly underwhelm me. More often than not I find them cramped and overpriced, especially when compared with what you can get for your money elsewhere in the world. I know we are spoilt in Dubai with huge rooms and luxury furnishings and I’m aware that London is hampered by it’s longstanding, existing architecture but really, sometimes I think they’re taking the mick with their prices compared to their offerings.
