On our recent trip back to the UK we treated ourselves to a mini break in the Cotswolds. I hadn’t been to this gorgeous part of England for many years and I wanted The Scottish Husband to see some of the more beautiful areas of the country his wife is from. Despite him having lived in London for several years prior to moving to Dubai he hasn’t seen much of the middle of the country.
London hotels always distinctly underwhelm me. More often than not I find them cramped and overpriced, especially when compared with what you can get for your money elsewhere in the world. I know we are spoilt in Dubai with huge rooms and luxury furnishings and I’m aware that London is hampered by it’s longstanding, existing architecture but really, sometimes I think they’re taking the mick with their prices compared to their offerings.
Last month we went to Sweden for a close friend’s wedding and then decided to add on a few days in Stockholm as we’d never been before. We’ve visited Copenhagen before and I really want to see more of Europe so a few days in Stockholm was perfect.
We got lucky with the weather, it was wall to wall sunshine, blue skies and highs of 17 degrees during the days. Sounds chilly to a Dubaian however, sitting in the sun during the day with the sun on you it was very pleasant indeed. Once the sun had gone it was a very different story however, thank god I took my boots and coat! Spring was just beginning but you could very much still feel the edges of winter at night.
